The General Services Administration has released a presolicitation notice for a potential $550 million design/build contract for the Bridge of the Americas Land Port of Entry modernization project.
According to the GSA post on SAM.gov, the agency’s Design Excellence Program plans to launch a competition to determine a contractor that will design and construct a new port of entry to replace the existing BOTA LPOE.
The port located on the international border separating El Paso, Texas, and Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, is responsible for processing toll-free inbound and outbound commercial, non-commercial and pedestrian traffic. However, it is operating from outdated and deteriorating facilities. The new construction project aims to address port deficiencies and modernize facilities to meet increasing traffic requirements.
Work will cover architectural, engineering, construction and other related services, as well as all management, supervision, labor, equipment and materials.
The substantial completion date is projected for 2029.
GSA anticipates an award in summer 2025, following a two-stage solicitation process.
Responses to the presolicitation notice are due Aug. 8.
