2024 Wash100 Vote Now!

Cast 10 votes today in the Wash100 popular contest! The competition closes on April 30.

The Wash100 Award is EM’s annual commendation of those in the government contracting industry and federal sector who are most effectively serving the country’s mission. These leaders are reliable visionaries who have not only achieved great things but are destined to be drivers of change across the GovCon landscape in the years to come.

After much deliberation, the Wash100 list is announced every January, followed by a grand roll-out including a popular vote contest among the recipients. This is where you, the reader, get 10 votes to boost your favorite GovCon execs into the top slot as the most beloved in the industry. Don’t hesitate; vote now! A winner is crowned in May.

“In Shawn’s two years at the helm of QinetiQ, she has further solidified QinetiQ’s position as a powerhouse in the GovCon market through key hires, top line growth and critically important contract wins,” said Executive Mosaic CEO and Wash100 founder Jim Garrettson.

“Under Shawn’s leadership, QinetiQ has significantly expanded its footprint in key markets and domains, including space, defense, intelligence, homeland security and others. Shawn is a bold, ambitious leader, and she’s the driving force behind the company’s major growth initiatives — we’re excited to recognize her for the fourth consecutive year,” Garrettson stated.

Purvis is an industry mainstay who logged over a decade at both SAIC and Northrop Grumman before being appointed to lead the U.S. arm of multinational, British-headquartered defense, security and critical national infrastructure contractor QinetiQ. Her familiarity with next generation technologies — she was, for two years, SAIC’s chief information officer — primed her to lead a company that is routinely developing and delivering new technologies to the defense ecosystem.

In October 2023, QinetiQ US won a five-year, $84 million U.S. Army contract to produce 700 Next Generation Advanced Bomb Suits for use by explosive ordnance disposal soldiers. The work is a collaboration with the Project Manager Soldier Protective Equipment, or PM SPE, product team.

“Enabling the PM SPE team to be equipped with what it needs to provide enhanced protection for various situations globally that ultimately leads to increased survivability of the force is an honor, and we are proud to do it,” issued Purvis.

In March 2023, the company landed another notable Army contract: a four-year, $92.6 million award to make and test digital night vision technology with the service branch, an effort that looks to enhance situational awareness for soldiers in low-light conditions.

“Digital Night Vision Technology will better enable soldiers to view and understand information in tactical environments allowing them to react and respond to real-time data,” Purvis explained.

Among the other sizable contracts won by the company during the last year were a $170 million U.S. Customs and Border Protection award to facilitate and maintain an airborne detection and monitoring system and a Space Development Agency award worth $224 million for systems engineering and technical services to help realize the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture vision.

“This award further expounds on our long-term commitment to the space mission. We are proud to be continuing our partnership with SDA to advance mission operations of this critical space program in support of our warfighter,” Purvis said of the latter.

As if these achievements weren’t enough, Purvis in 2023 also had the honor of being appointed to the board of directors of the Professional Services Council in May. Not only that, but she did so alongside two other distinguished Wash100 winners: Leidos’ Thomas Bell and Capgemini Government Solutions’ Bill Webner.

Shawn Purvis’ winning streak knows no bounds! Executive Mosaic congratulates her and the QinetiQ US team on their success and looks forward to what the future has in store.
