Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse Confirmed as DIA Director

The Senate on Tuesday confirmed U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse as the next director of the Defense Intelligence Agency.

He succeeds the retiring U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Scott Berrier, a 2023 Wash100 awardee.

Kruse currently serves as the director’s adviser for military affairs at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.

Prior to this role, Kruse was director for defense intelligence – warfighter support in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security.

His joint assignments included time serving as director for intelligence at U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, director of intelligence for Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve; and served as the senior special adviser for the commander of U.S. European Command and Supreme Allied Commander, Europe.

Director of National Intelligence and three-time Wash100 awardee Avril Haines said Kruse’s experience and commitment to ethics will be key as he oversees the defense intelligence enterprise amid today’s complex threat environment.
