HII Books $347M Navy Lionfish Small UUV Production Contract; Andy Green Quoted

HII‘s (NYSE: HII) mission technologies division has won a potential five-year, $347 million contract to produce and deliver up to 200 small unmanned undersea vehicles to the U.S. Navy.

The company said Wednesday the Lionfish System is a two-person, man-portable vehicle with an open architecture based on its Remus 300 UUV design.

The contract has an initial order valued at $19.8 million for nine Lionfish SUUVs, support equipment and engineering services, according to a Department of Defense announcement.

“Lionfish provides increased capability and interoperability that aligns with the Navy’s undersea priorities, and we look forward to delivering next-generation vehicles that can readily adapt to and support a variety of mission needs,” said Andy Green, executive vice president and president of HII’s mission technologies division and a five-time Wash100 Award winner.

In March 2022, the Navy selected HII’s Remus 300 prototype for the service branch’s next-generation SUUV program of record after a two-year rapid prototyping initiative.
