NNSA Soliciting Proposals for Management, Operation of Pantex Plant

The National Nuclear Security Administration within the Department of Energy is soliciting proposals from vendors capable of providing nuclear production operations, management and other services in support of the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, Texas.

According to a request for proposal posted on SAM.gov, NNSA will select a contractor to assist in nuclear warhead production, maintenance and disassembly, and perform nonproliferation and counterproliferation support to meet national security requirements at the plant.

The contract has a five-year base period and three five-year options to extend performance. It will be on a cost-plus-fixed-fee basis and an award-fee basis, with values yet to be determined.

Services to be provided include infrastructure management and maintenance, information technology and cybersecurity, human resource management, environmental and waste management as well as emergency, health, safety and security support.

Responses to the RFP are due Sept. 14.

The solicitation stemmed from NNSA’s decision to have two separate contracts for the management and operation of the Pantex Plant and the Y-12 National Security Complex– a work previously performed by a joint venture of Amentum and Fluor (NYSE: FLR).
