Northrop Lands $80M USAF Contract to Test Military Comm Tech via Commercial Space Internet Service

Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has secured an $80.3 million sole-source contract to develop and demonstrate a communication system using military platforms and commercial space internet services.

The company will help the service branch test system using common user terminal equipment under the Defense Experimentation Using Commercial Space Internet program, the Department of Defense said Friday.

An award notice posted on SAM.gov says the DEUCSI effort covers “the design, development, implementation, test and delivery of three prototype radio terminal configurations.”

The Air Force Research Laboratory acts the contracting activity on the project and is obligating $31 million at the time of award from the branch’s research, development, test, and evaluation funds for fiscal year 2022 and fiscal 2023.

AFRL expects the company to finish work under the cost-plus-fixed-fee contract by Feb. 25, 2027.
