Air Force Taps Solid State Scientific for $187M Weather Cloud Platform Modernization Project

Solid State Scientific Corp. has secured a five-year, $186.9 million contract to help the U.S. Air Force update cloud-based infrastructure for military weather forecasting.

The company will develop a platform as a service to support the Weather Virtual Private Cloud under phase three of the branch’s Small Business Innovation Research program, the Department of Defense said Friday.

USAF is obligating $25.65 million at the time of award from its operations and maintenance funds for fiscal year 2023.

An Amazon Web Services partner, New Hampshire-based SSSC provides support to government customers in cloud technology design, migration and sustainment.
