Navy Awards SNC $717M High-Band Sensor Tech Supply Contract

Sierra Nevada Corp. has booked a five-year, $716.8 million contract to provide high-band aircraft sensor components to the U.S. Navy, international cooperative partners and foreign military sales clients.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract from Naval Air Systems Command covers the procurement of Multi-Intelligence Sensor Development hardware and deployed system engineering services, the Department of Defense said Thursday.

Boeing (NYSE: BA) subsidiary Argon ST was awarded a $463 million contract in January to perform similar work. Argon ST produced the low-band MISD sensor suite while SNC developed the high-band version of the system.

NAVAIR procured the services from both companies using a sole-source procurement method.

The MISD suite is designed to support sensor tasking and data management functions in unmanned and manned aircraft platforms.
