President Biden to Nominate SAIC’s Gabe Camarillo for Army Undersecretary Post

President Joe Biden intends to nominate Gabe Camarillo, senior vice president of the Army business unit at Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC), as the next undersecretary of the U.S. Army, the White House announced Tuesday.

If confirmed, the SAIC executive would replace Christopher Lowman, who has held the service branch’s second-highest ranking civilian role in an acting capacity since Jan. 20.

Camarillo joined the Reston, Virginia-based company in 2017 as VP for strategy within the defense systems group and elevated to the SVP position with responsibility for naval sea and air systems operations in late April 2020 (click here to read his full interview on ExecutiveBiz).

He previously served as assistant secretary for manpower and reserve affairs at the U.S. Air Force and as principal deputy assistant secretary for acquisition, logistics and technology at the Army.

His career also includes experience as a private-practice lawyer and an adjunct professor at Georgetown University School of Public Policy.
