Intrepid Solutions and Services, a portfolio company of Bluestone Investment Partners, has acquired Darkblade Systems for an undisclosed sum to expand technology products and service offerings for the U.S. Intelligence Community in the areas of counter unmanned aircraft systems, cybersecurity and electronic warfare.
Winchester, Virginia-based Darkblade provides research and development support to U.S. military laboratories and is a candidate certified third-party assessor organization under the Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program, Intrepid said Wednesday.
Dennis Kelly, executive chairman of Intrepid, said the combined company aims to position itself to be a “game changer” that could support national security mission requirements.
Darkblade CEO Fred Starkey noted that the two companies have complementary defense and intelligence offerings and will work to modernize or evolve systems for military customers.
Established in 2010, Darkblade offers technical, scientific, engineering, training and operational support services in signals intelligence, cybersecurity, counter UAS, counter improvised explosive device and electronic warfare, among other domains.
More than 30 percent of its employees are drone pilots certified under the Federal Aviation Administration Part 107 rules.
Darkblade received investment banking support from G Squared Capital Partners in the transaction.
