Agile Space Buys Metal 3D Printing Company Tronix3D

Propulsion technology maker Agile Space Industries has acquired Tronix3D in a move to transform the former’s aerospace component manufacturing process with the use of 3D printing technology.

Agile Space said Thursday Tronix3D, which makes printed metal parts for the aerospace and defense sectors, will operate under the name Agile Additive and run a production facility in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania.

The new subsidiary will continue to employ 3D printers in efforts to produce exotic metal alloys for customers.

Durango, Colorado-based Agile Space supplies propulsion systems to government and commercial clients such as the Department of Defense and Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC).

The space technology provider noted it will manufacture thrusters to help power a lunar lander Astrobotic Technology is building to support NASA’s Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover mission on the moon’s south pole in late 2023.
