Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a $2.12 billion contract modification to produce the seventh batch of KC-46 aerial refueling aircraft for the U.S. Air Force.
The company will provide data, licenses, subscriptions and flat file to the service branch in addition to 15 tankers, the Department of Defense said Wednesday.
The Air Force will pay the full cost of its lot 7 order using fiscal 2021 aircraft procurement funds. Work under the modification will occur in Seattle through May 31, 2024.
Boeing is manufacturing 12 tankers under a $1.69 billion lot 6 KC-46 production contract awarded Jan. 12.
The Pegasus aircraft platform is designed with protection systems against medium-level threats, and can also support military transport operations.
