Kymeta Eyes Gov’t Market Expansion With Lepton Global Acquisition

Kymeta has acquired satellite-based communications services provider Lepton Global Solutions for an undisclosed sum to strengthen its ability to pursue opportunities with U.S. government and defense customers.

Redmond, Wash.-based Kymeta said Tuesday it will combine its satcom capabilities with Lepton’s service offerings and operate the newly acquired company as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Walter Berger, president and chief operating officer of Kymeta, said Lepton will help accelerate Kymeta’s efforts to get into U.S. military and government markets.

“We are excited to bring Rob Weitendorf, Isabel LeBoutillier, and their team into the Kymeta family and thus expand and accelerate our ability to go to market,” Berger added.

Founded in 2013, Lepton provides customized turnkey satcom platforms and services to Special Operations Command, Intelligence Community and other government clients. The company hosts Kymeta’s satellite connectivity platforms and offers VSAT equipment installation, back-end IT infrastructure and technical support to government and commercial customers.
