Jeff Brody

Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) will design and build a new version of the Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense system under a potential six-year, $327M contract from the Missile Defense Agency.

The cost-plus-incentive-fee, firm-fixed-price contract will include support for the integration, test and certification of MDA’s Aegis BMD 6.0 technology, the Department of Defense said Friday.

MDA awarded the project via a sole-source acquisition process and will obligate $15M at the time of award.

The weapon system’s next version will incorporate the SPY-6 air and missile radar intended for deployment on the first DDG Flight III guided missile destroyer.

The rotary and mission systems business of Lockheed will carry out work in Moorestown, N.J. through December 2025.
