Tech Companies to Help NIST Establish ‘Trusted Cloud’ to Support Workloads; Cameron Chehreh Quoted

TYSONS CORNER, VA, September 17, 2018 — Technology companies including Dell EMC, Gemalto, HyTrust, IBM (NYSE: IBM), Intel (Nasdaq: INTC), RSA and VMware (NYSE: VMW) will work with the National Institute of Standards and Technology on a project to establish a “Trusted Cloud” that will ensure the security and privacy of workloads, ExecutiveBiz reported Sept. 11.

NIST’s National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence said in a draft security practice guide the project aims to utilize commercial off-the-shelf technology and cloud services to demonstrate the security and privacy of organizations’ applications and data within or flowing across private, public and hybrid clouds.

“[Working] with customers on being prescriptive on how to deal with cybersecurity issues and the ability to operationalize the cloud, is fundamentally different,” Cameron Chehreh, chief technology officer of Dell EMC Federal, said in a MeriTalk report, noting the cooperation between NIST and industry partners on the NCCoE project.
