Satcom Direct lands $245M DISA BPA for aeronautical broadband connectivity services

The Defense Information Systems Agency has re-awarded Satcom Direct‘s communications business a potential five-year, $245 million blanket purchase agreement for global voice and data connectivity services, Satnews reported Thursday.

Satcom Direct Communications will provide aeronautical broadband services to the Defense Department and other government agencies via Inmarsat‘s Global Xpress satellite network.

SDC serves as a tier 1 distribution partner and value-added reseller for a wide range of Inmarsat satcom products and services in the federal market.

The latest BPA, which contains one base year and four option years, extends a contract DISA originally awarded to SDC in 2012.

An SDC terrestrial network and an SD data center will provide aeronautical support services to help defense personnel transmit data from aircraft to U.S. government facilities, the report noted.
