IBM’s Sam Gordy Urges Multi-Vendor DoD Contract for Cloud Services

Sam Gordy

TYSONS CORNER, VA, Dec. 22, 2017 — Sam Gordy, general manager of IBM‘s (NYSE: IBM) federal business, urged the Defense Department to select multiple vendors for its planned procurement of commercial cloud computing services for unclassified, secret and top secret workloads in 2018, ExecutiveBiz reported Dec. 13.

Gordy said in a Nextgov report published Dec. 12 the department can establish a common infrastructure instead of awarding a single cloud service provider the potential 10-year, multibillion-dollar contract to host DoD data.

Gordy is an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017.
