TYSONS CORNER, VA, Aug. 15, 2017 — Space Systems Loral has performed a preliminary design review on a robotic spacecraft that will work to support NASA‘s satellite servicing operations in low Earth orbit, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

The company said Aug. 8 it collaborated with the Goddard Space Flight Center and completed the three-day initial review that serves to push the Restore-L space vehicle toward the detailed design phase and its scheduled launch in 2020.

“Satellite servicing in Low Earth Orbit is of great value for NASA exploration and science architectures as well as national security,” said Richard White, president of SSL’s government systems business.

“In addition to enabling high-value assets to continue to be used, Restore-L will test crosscutting technologies that have applications for other important NASA missions.”
