Elbit Systems Lands $100M Contract From Israeli Defense Ministry for Software-Based Radios

Elbit Systems (Nasdaq: ESLT) has received a potential five-year, $100 million contract from Israel’s ministry of defense to manufacture and deliver hundreds of advanced radio systems.

The Israel-headquartered company said Wednesday it will supply handheld, airborne and vehicle mounted software-defined radios designed to support high-security network services.

“We are very proud of this award, reinforcing our strategic partnership with the city of Arad on the one hand and with the IDF on the other,” said Bezhalel Machlis, Elbit Systems president and CEO.

The defense electronics company also expects to receive an additional order from the Israeli defense ministry for maintenance and repair services as part of the ministry’s outsourcing strategy.

Elbit Systems added it will employ 100 workers at its Arad, Israel-based manufacturing and maintenance site as part of the firm’s expansion efforts.
