Balan Ayyar, president and chief operating officer of Sevatec, Â has taken a new dual role as president and CEOÂ of theÂ Fairfax, Virginia-based information technology services contractor.
HeÂ will oversee the company’sÂ day-to-day operations, expansion and market strategiesÂ and overall performance and succeeds Sonny Kakar, who has stepped down from the CEO role and will continue to serveÂ as chairman of the board, Sevatec said Monday.
According to Sevatec, Â he has played a key role in the company’s efforts to transform into a mid-tier services provider to the federalÂ sector over the past 18 months.
He previously held a 27-year careerÂ at the U.S. Air Force, where heÂ managed aÂ 2, 600-employee organization responsible for manpower, sales, advertising, marketing and accessions functions of the military service.
The retired brigadier general has also served as aÂ Council on Foreign Relations member and a White House fellow.
