General Dynamics to Update Air Force ‘Friend or Foe’ System’s Cryptographic Modules


general dynamics logoTYSONS CORNER, VA, Sept. 20, 2016 — General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) will update the cryptographic modules on the U.S. Air Force‘s Air Identification Friend or Foe system under a $20 million contract, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.

The company said Sept. 6 it will deliver the KIV-78 combined interrogator/transponder applique with full encryption of “friend or foe” inquiries and replies in efforts to help the Air Force securely identify aircraft and potential threats.
