MC2 Security Fund, an affiliate of advisory firm The Chertoff Group, has acquired Chicago-based cybersecurity services provider Trustwave in a transaction aimed at expanding the global reach of the latter’s managed detection and response offerings.
Trustwave said Friday the transaction aligns with the mission of its SpiderLabs security research team to help organizations worldwide reduce cyber risk and build their defenses against disruptive cybersecurity threats.
“This strategic partnership with MC2 and The Chertoff Group serves as a testament to our ongoing innovation and commitment to delivering unparalleled cyber value,” said Eric Harmon, CEO of Trustwave.
Through the transaction, Trustwave will gain access to The Chertoff Group’s network of cybersecurity, national security and government technology partners.
“Together with the Trustwave leadership team and its world-class cybersecurity professionals, we are well-positioned for success and look forward to the integrated value and security we can provide our clients,” said MC2 Security Fund Partner Kanad Virk.
Trustwave offers managed detection and response, database security, email security, cyber advisory, managed security services and penetration testing to commercial and government customers.
In March 2023, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office expanded its database security contract with the government solutions business of Trustwave. DbProtect database security software will be used to enhance USPTO’s zero trust architecture platform.
