The transaction, announced on Nov. 4, closed at an $800 million valuation prior to closing adjustments, Intuitive Machines said Tuesday. It was financed with $450 million in cash and $350 million in Intuitive Machines Class A common equity.
“This acquisition marks a defining moment in the evolution of Intuitive Machines,” said Steve Altemus, CEO of Intuitive Machines. “We previously proved our ability to operate on the Moon. With Lanteris, we add flight-proven manufacturing at scale. Together, these strengths transform Intuitive Machines into a multi-domain, end-to-end solutions provider that can build spacecraft, connect resilient communications and navigation networks, and operate systems across LEO, MEO, GEO and cislunar space.”
What Capabilities Does Lanteris Add?
Lanteris, formerly Maxar Space Systems, provides spacecraft manufacturing capabilities, delivering satellite platforms for low, medium and geostationary Earth orbits. Its systems support national security, civil and commercial missions, including strategic missile detection and tracking; intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance operations; Earth observation; and space domain awareness.
How Does the Acquisition Support Intuitive Machines’ Strategy?
The acquisition supports Intuitive Machines’ strategy by expanding its vertically integrated capabilities across mission design, construction and operations. It also enhances the company’s ability to support programs, including the Golden Dome initiative, NASA’s Artemis and Lunar Terrain Vehicle projects, and potential Mars communications missions.
