Roger Wells Named Chief Operating Officer at Mercury Systems

Roger Wells, formerly executive vice president and head of the microelectronics division at Mercury Systems (Nasdaq: MRCY), has been named chief operating officer at the Andover, Massachusetts-based defense technology supplier.

His appointment is in line with the consolidation of Mercury Systems’ two divisions into a single unified structure incorporating multiple business functions, the company said Wednesday.

“This integrated approach will clarify accountability, eliminate redundancy, and leverage our unique, end-to-end Mercury Processing Platform for growth,” Bill Ballhaus, CEO of Mercury Systems.

Ballhaus commended Wells for scaling the microelectronics division’s business operations and expressed confidence that the new COO will “continue to transform the company.”

Wells joined Mercury Systems in November 2021 following a 13-year career at FLIR Systems, now part of Teledyne Technologies (NYSE: TDY), where he was VP and general manager of unmanned systems and integrated solutions.

He also served as a director at Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) for eight years.

Wells will officially assume the COO post at Mercury on Jan. 22.
