Less than 20 defense companies have applied for $17B worth of loans under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act and Ellen Lord, undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment at the Department of Defense and a 2020 Wash100 awardee, said the Treasury Department is working with DoD as it considers how to expand the eligibility requirements for such loans, Defense News reported Thursday.

Battelle Awarded $415M DLA Contract for Mask Decontamination Systems

The Defense Logistics Agency has ordered 60 mask decontamination units from Battelle through the award of  a potential $415M contract on behalf of the Department of Health and Human Services. Lt. Col. Mike Andrews, a Pentagon spokesman, said in a statement released Monday the nonprofit company will provide systems designed to sanitize up to 80K N95 mask respirators each on a daily basis.

Trade Groups Provide Recommendations for DoD CMMC Implementation

Six technology trade associations have asked the Department of Defense to consider their recommendations and respond to their queries with regard to the implementation of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program. The trade groups presented their suggestions in a Thursday letter addressed to Ellen Lord, defense undersecretary for acquisition and sustainment and a 2020 Wash100 award winner, and Katie Arrington, chief information security officer and fellow Wash100 recipient.

Boeing (NYSE: BA), Textron’s (NYSE: TXT) Bell subsidiary and other aerospace defense manufacturers have increased cleaning efforts and implemented telework capabilities, social distancing and other measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus and maintain operations, FlightGlobal reported Friday. Other companies that have initiated similar efforts are Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC), Sikorsky and AeroVironment.
