Edmond Hughes, vice president of human resources and administration contracts at Huntington Ingalls Industries’ (NYSE: HII) Ingalls Shipbuilding division, has been promoted to serve as the company’s executive vice president and chief human resources officer.
He succeeds William Ermatinger, who will retire from HII after a 35-year career and will oversee the company’s overall HR strategy and functions in his new position, the military shipbuilder said Thursday.
Hughes previously spent more than 15 years at automotive systems supplier TRW, where his last role was HR director for the North America braking and suspension product line.
HII selected Susan Jacobs, VP of human resources and administration at HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding division, to take over Hughes’ most recent responsibilities starting April 1.
“I thank Bill for his leadership and dedication, and I am confident that those who directly supported him, Edmond and Susan, will follow his strong example as they too make their marks on this great company,” said Mike Petters, president and CEO of HII and a previous Wash100 Award recipient.
