Boeing Receives $625M Contract to Update UK Military Info Logistics System

Boeing (NYSE: BA) has secured a potential five-year, $625 million contract to update and maintain logistics information systems for the British military.

The U.K. defense ministry said Thursday the company will support modernization work on LogIS software applications to provide the country’s service personnel a single technology platform for managing equipment inventories, transport services and financial statements.

The agency estimates it will save as much as $73 million over the contract period and expects the program to help Boeing’s defense business to sustain up to 300 jobs at two facilities in England.

An additional 375 positions at various suppliers such as BAE Systems, IBM (NYSE: IBM), Fujitsu and Sopra Steria could offer support to the program, the ministry noted.
