6 Companies Awarded NASA Rotorcraft R&D Support Contracts

Six companies have secured contracts worth potentially $40 million combined to help NASA’s Ames Research Center develop rotorcraft vertical lift technologies.

Tasks under the five-year hybrid contracts are scheduled to commence on Tuesday and will continue through Dec. 20, 2026, the space agency said Wednesday.

Contractors will provide resources and technical services to support Ames’ research and development of rotary-wing aircraft, flight controls and health management systems.

The majority of work under the Rotorcraft Vertical Lift Technology Development program will take place at contractor facilities within the U.S., with some services to be performed at the agency field center located in Silicon Valley.

The awardees are:

  • AgustaWestland Philadelphia, a subsidiary of Leonardo
  • Boeing (NYSE: BA)
  • Collins Aerospace, a business unit of Raytheon Technologies (NYSE: RTX)
  • Georgia Tech Research Corp.
  • Monterey Technologies
  • Sikorsky, a subsidiary of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT)
