Initial HII Unmanned System Production Facility Opens in Virginia; Andy Green Quoted

TYSONS CORNER, VA, January 19, 2021 — Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE: HII) has opened a 22K-square-foot facility built as part of its ongoing Unmanned Systems Center of Excellence development project in Hampton, Virginia, ExecutiveBiz reported Jan. 12.

HII said Jan. 11 it will perform hull structure assembly work in the new building to support Boeing‘s (NYSE: BA) production of Orca extra large unmanned undersea vehicles for the U.S. Navy.

“Opening this initial facility immediately expands our unmanned systems capability and helps support the increasing needs of our customers who defend our national security,” said Andy Green, president of HII Technical Solutions and two-time Wash100 Award recipient.
