NASA Looks to Select BlackSky for Smallsat Imaging Data Services

NASA has indicated its intent to award Spaceflight Industries’ BlackSky Global subsidiary a sole-source blanket purchase agreement for satellite imaging services to support the agency’s Earth observation research and data management efforts.

BlackSky will provide high-resolution data from small satellites that will be launched into mid-inclination orbits as part of the Commercial Smallsat Data Acquisition BPA, the agency said in a notice posted Wednesday on SAM.

CSDA is intended as a means for NASA's Earth Science Division to access commercial services to manage and disseminate satellite data throughout the scientific community.

The agency intends to make all purchased data available to agency-backed researchers.
