Space Force Seeks Bids for Potential $12B SpEC Mgmt OTA

Jeff Brody

The U.S. Space Force plans to issue a potential 10-year, $12B other transaction agreement for the management of the Space Enterprise Consortium focused on prototyping space-based technology such as satellites, ground systems and payloads.

The branch issued a solicitation for the OTA recompete on Wednesday in an effort to identify a consortium manager that will coordinate prototyping agreements between the government and industry.

According to a separate document, the CM will also oversee training and collaborative activities on matters such as improving members' proposals and cybersecurity posture.

SpEC operates under the Space and Missile Systems Center’s Innovation and Prototyping Directorate and will work to coordinate projects intended to inform the development of future Air Force and Department of Defense space technologies, the notice states.

The consortium will also be responsible for minimizing barriers for nontraditional contractors, reducing program development lifecycles and promoting "constant innovation across the space industry.”

The Space Force plans to select an awardee in August ahead of a prototype solicitation in September and a contract award in November. Interested parties may submit proposals through April 20.
