AT&T’s Mike Leff: 5G Tech Has Potential to Transform Military Base Operations

TYSONS CORNER, VA, January 14, 2020 — AT&T (NYSE: T) and the U.S. Air Force collaborate to integrate 5G-ready technology platforms into communications infrastructure at Tyndall AF Base in Florida as part of  installation buildout efforts, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

Defense Systems reported Thursday the company will also provide the military base access to unified communications, connected devices, broadband and cloud services under a contract with the service branch.

“The power of 5G has the potential to revolutionize and transform [Department of Defense] operations, particularly on military bases, to significantly enhance mission readiness and enabling new mission capabilities like never before.” Mike Leff, vice president for defense within AT&T’s public sector business.

The telecommunications firm aims to equip Tyndall AFB with the latest cellular technology by mid-2020.
