David Young, senior vice president for strategic government at CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) and a 2019 Wash100 awardee, has been named SVP of the company’s newly established public sector group, GovCon Wire has learned.

“David will lead our new Public Sector group, focused on aggregating our federal, state and local government, research and education, and public safety sub-segments,” Ed Morche, president of strategic enterprise and government markets at CenturyLink, said in a statement.

Young said he is thrilled to be appointed head of the newly formed public sector organization, which will focus on information technology modernization platforms for the government and education sector.

He has over three decades' experience in the public sector and has held leadership roles in federal business development, program management, sales, network provisioning and capture management.

Sonia Ramsey, who recently assumed the role of regional VP of the company’s state and local government and education sales group, will directly report to Young.
