Vulcan Transitions Ownership of Aerospace Venture Stratolaunch

Jeff Brody

Stratolaunch Systems, a space transportation venture established by the late Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) co-founder Paul Allen, now operates under an undisclosed entity following transition of ownership from Allen’s Seattle-based company Vulcan.

Stratolaunch said Friday it aims to launch reusable testbed vehicles through a carrier aircraft and provide related flight support to customers.

The company conducted the first flight of the 500K-pound Stratolaunch plane built in partnership with Northrop Grumman’s (NYSE: NOC) Scaled Composites business. The all-composite aircraft is designed to carry rockets and has been designated as the world's largest plane.
