Since 2009, I have coached and trained thousands of individuals and numerous sales teams on leveraging LinkedIn, now referred to as social selling. “I didn’t know you could do that on LinkedIn,” is one comment I get every time I do a LinkedIn training session, whether it is at a conference, an in-house session for a sales team or for an individual.
If you ask your sales and business development staff if they use LinkedIn well, they will almost always respond in the affirmative. It may be an honest response, but in most cases their self-evaluations are not accurate.
Why? Because they have little to measure their experience against and they may only be measuring it against co-workers.
