Kratos-Built Subsonic Aerial Target System for Navy Marks IOC Status


TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 7, 2019 — Kratos Defense and Security Solutions (Nasdaq: KTOS) has completed the requirements to reach initial operational capability on a subsonic aerial target system that it built for the U.S. Navy, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

The company said Tuesday the Navy declared the IOC status of the BQM-177A target drone product on Feb. 27 and identified Point Mugu in California as the system’s first operations base.

BQM-177A SSAT works to emulate anti-ship cruise missile threats and operates at a sea-skimming altitude of 10 feet and speeds of approximately 0.9 Mach.
