Potomac Officers Club to Host Security Vetting Process Modernization Forum on Oct. 17

TYSONS CORNER, VA, October 2nd, 2018 — The Potomac Officers Club — a division of Executive Mosaic — will be hosting the Security Vetting Process Modernization forum on Oct. 17 at 2941 Restaurant. Monte Hawkins, director of the National Vetting Center, will serve as the keynote speaker, while Kathy Lane, of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Edward Ramotowski, of the Department of State, and Lori Vislocky, of the Department of Homeland Security, will be panelists. Tom Afferton, a vice president at Northrop Grumman, will moderate the event.

On Feb. 6, 2018, the White House signed the Presidential Memorandum on Optimizing the Use of Federal Government Information in Support of the National Vetting Enterprise. It addressed the government’s need to improve coordination and intelligence sharing when identifying individuals who may pose a threat to national security, ordering the establishment of a National Vetting Center “to coordinate the management and governance of the national vetting enterprise.”

At the forum, GovCon executives will learn about the National Vetting Center, the vetting needs other federal agencies have outside the NVC, and what industry can do to help.

“The modernization of the U.S. security vetting process is a key piece of the administration’s policies as it pushes a coordinated approach that will utilize the resources of intelligence, defense, homeland security and law enforcement agencies,” said Jim Garrettson, president and CEO of Executive Mosaic.

“Monte Hawkins, director of the recently established National Vetting Center, will join us at the Security Vetting Process Modernization forum to provide insight into the organization’s efforts, as we explore the potential role of industry in supporting vetting requirements and updating the vetting process across the federal government,” Garrettson added.

The forum will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, at the 2941 Restaurant, 2941 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, Va.
