General Atomics Lined Up for Reaper Block 5 Production Contract From Air Force

TYSONS CORNER, VA, October 5, 2018 — A General Atomics business unit is set to receive a sole-source contract from the U.S. Air Force for the production of MQ-9 Reaper Block 5 unmanned aircraft systems for fiscal year 2019, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.

The Air Force Materiel Command said in a FedBizOpps notice posted Wednesday that the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s medium-altitude UAS division justified the intended award to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc. as it is the sole designer, developer and manufacturer of the Reaper, but it noted an open opportunity for subcontractors.
