SSL’s Richard White Outlines Factors in On-Orbit Satellite Servicing Process

TYSONS CORNER, VA, July 11, 2018 — Richard White, president of the government systems business at SSL, has explained that spacecraft client design, orbit and other requirements may influence the on-orbit satellite servicing process, which he said generally involves rendezvous between servicer and client, capture, servicing tasks using robotic arms then release, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

Geospatial World reported Thursday that the servicing of on-orbit satellites has helped transform the space industry by enabling the development of new infrastructure and extending the life of expensive and critical spacecraft.
