Report: Transcom to Kick Off AWS ‘Secret’ Cloud Region Adoption

The U.S. Transportation Command will now start the migration of data and applications to an Amazon Web Services-built cloud platform designed to host intelligence community clients’ workloads classified at the “secret” level, Nextgov reported Tuesday.

Trancom’s decision to move data to the AWS Secret Region came after Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) decided to retract its bid protest March 8.

Microsoft told Nextgov it made the decision since the issues were addressed to the company’s satisfaction.

The command announced its plan in December to award AWS a contract in order to facilitate the transition of data to the company’s cloud platform.

Transcom’s announcement came a month after the company launched the AWS Secret Region that can be accessed by IC agencies through the Commercial Cloud Services contract.
