SSL’s Rob Zitz: Maxar Turns to ‘Persistent’ ISR With Eye Toward US Gov’t Customers

Rob Zitz

TYSONS CORNER, VA, Nov. 1, 2017 — Rob Zitz, chief strategy officer of Space Systems Loral‘s government systems unit, has said the new company that resulted from MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates‘ acquisition of DigitalGlobe will leverage intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance offerings in its push toward the U.S. government market, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.

Via Satellite reported Oct. 25 that Zitz, who also serves as a senior vice president at the new business entity called Maxar Technologies (NYSE: MAXR), noted the government has moved to prioritize “persistent” ISR among its satellite capabilities.

“[Our] customers have now understood that space is no longer a protected enclave,” he added, pointing to a shift in persistent ISR applications from military and intelligence to the space domain.
