TYSONS CORNER, VA, Aug. 17, 2017 — Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) has provided a supercomputer that NASA will utilize in a one-year experiment at the International Space Station to monitor the performance of a commercial off-the-shelf high-performance computing system in a space environment, ExecutiveBiz reported Wednesday.

Alain Andreoli, a senior vice president at HPE, said in a blog post published Friday that NASA sent the Spaceborne Computer to ISS aboard the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket that launched Monday as the space agency works to address computing requirements for a future mission to Mars.
