Forcepoint Buys Analytics Firm RedOwl in Human-Focused Security Push

Forcepoint, a cyber technology joint venture led by Raytheon (NYSE: RTN), has acquired  Baltimore, Maryland-based security analytics company RedOwl as part of efforts to help enterprise customers adopt human-centric cybersecurity systems.

RedOwl designed its analytics platform for organizations to gain insight into anomalous behavior and access among people, devices, data and applications in real time, Forcepoint said Monday.

“We look forward to helping customers differentiate between carelessness, compromise and malice in the most efficient way possible,” said Heath Thompson, senior vice president and general manager of Forcepoint’s data and insider threat security business.

Austin, Texas-based Forcepoint plans to integrate its data loss prevention and Insider Threat platforms with RedOwl-built user and entity behavior analytics technology to provide clients with a “holistic” view of high-risk behaviors and events across the enterprise network.
