Northrop Grumman Navigation Tech Supports NASA Spacecraft Maneuver Near Saturn

TYSONS CORNER, VA, May 30, 2017 — Northrop Grumman (NYSE: NOC) has provided the Space Inertial Reference Unit navigation platform that helped maneuver NASA‘s Cassini space vehicle through a 1,500-mile-wide gap between Saturn and its rings as part of its mission, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

The company said Thursday the SIRU tool worked to provide attitude control to Cassini to complete the maneuver for the first time and navigate closer to the planet than previous spacecraft.
