May 8 Morning Report: Friday Close – GovCon Index at 30 Day High and Major Markets Set New Records


The Executive Mosaic GovCon Index ended Friday at a 30 day high closing at 93.666 up 0.915 percent on the day as advancers outpaced decliners 5 to 1. ICF was at the top of the leader board with a 6.29 percent increase in share value driven by a robust first quarter earnings report.

The major markets closed up on Friday with strong April employment numbers. The S&P500 and NASDAQ both hit new record highs. The S&P500 came very close to topping 2,400 closing at 2,399.27 while the NASDAQ broke through the 6,100 mark ending the week at 6,100.76. Investors came off the sidelines as the strong April jobs report seemed to ease some fears of a weakening economy.

At market close WTI rebounded $0.86 to 46.38 as global producers indicate that current agreed production cuts could extend past the June deadline, alleviating some concerns about oversupply.
