Matt Desch

TYSONS CORNER, VA, May 3, 2017 — Matt Desch, CEO of Iridium Communications (Nasdaq: IRDM), has unveiled that eight of the Iridium Next satellites that launched in January have started data and voice transmissions by mid-April, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.

“We completed the commissioning of these Iridium Next satellites about one week ahead of schedule,” Desch, an inductee into Executive Mosaic’s Wash100 for 2017, said in a quarterly earnings call.

Spaceflight Now reported Friday that launch provider SpaceX is anticipated to send four more Iridium Next batches to space this year, with the next 10-satellite group scheduled for June 29.
