Boeing-Built SES Satellite to Help Augment GPS Services, Support In-Flight Connectivity


TYSONS CORNER, VA, May 22, 2017 — A Boeing-built (NYSE: BA) SES satellite has launched to space carrying a Wide Area Augmentation System-hosted payload that will work to build on the global positioning system in support of the Federal Aviation Administration, ExecutiveBiz reported Friday.

SES said Thursday the SES-15 hybrid satellite is also designed to accommodate traffic-intensive data applications and VSAT networks in government and the maritime sector, as well as facilitate in-flight connectivity for the aviation industry.
