TYSONS CORNER, VA, March 28, 2017 — The U.S. Navy has conducted qualification trials on the USS Detroit littoral combat ship built by a Lockheed Martin-led (NYSE: LMT) industry team to check the vessel’s combat system, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.

The service branch said Friday the Freedom-class LCS 7 completed tests including firing exercises against high-speed maneuvering surface targets such as fast attack craft.

Lockheed partnered with Marinette Marine and Gibbs & Cox to build the ship for the Navy.
