TYSONS CORNER, VA, Jan. 13, 2017 — CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) will deliver software-defined networking and network functions virtualization services as part of its Defense Research and Engineering Network III contract that looks to develop a fiber-optic network for the Defense Department, ExecutiveBiz reported Thursday.

The company said Wednesday the delivery of SDN and NFV to DREN sites under the Defense Information Systems Agency contract will support the migration from traditional network technologies to a “scalable” software workload.

Erich Sanchack, senior vice president and general manager of CenturyLink’s federal solutions business, said the added services will work to help advance DoD’s efforts to deploy new technologies.
