Air Force Launches Latest Lockheed-Built Missile Warning Satellite


TYSONS CORNER, VA, Jan. 24, 2017 — The U.S. Air Force has launched the third Lockheed Martin-built (NYSE: LMT) missile warning satellite that will work to perform infrared surveillance and provide global situation awareness to the U.S. and its allies, ExecutiveBiz reported Monday.

The Space Based Infrared System GEO Flight 3 satellite was launched aboard United Launch Alliance‘s Atlas V evolved expendable launch vehicle from Space Launch Complex 41 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida,  the military branch said Friday.
